Depending on which DAC I've used, disconnecting from the USB bus was beneficial, or not. I use a Dell 7000 laptop in my headphone system. The DAC definitely needs to be isolated from the RPi's noisy USB power. I use solution 3 in a nice little secondary system with a Raspberry Pi 3 B+ and iFi iOne DAC. I only have one DAC like this, the other five DAC's I've tried needed USB power.
